Chamber Scholorship Information Distributed
Applications are currently available in the Pinckneyville High School Guidance Counselor's Office for two scholarships offered through the Pinckneyville Chamber of Commerce. The scholarships were established by the Chamber in honor of Coach Dick Corn and and his two Illinois High School Class A State Basketball Championship teams.
The "Dick Corn Scholarship" is awarded in honor of the 1994 State Champions. Seclection for this award is based upon the applicant's GPA, ACT or SAT test score, class rank, curriculum of study for the past four years, level of involvement in extra curricular activities and an essay written on "Unselfishness", with an emphasis on academic achievement.
The "All My Life I Wanted To Be A Panther" Scholarship is awarded in honor of the 2001 State Champions. It is awarded based on GPA, two letters of recommendation, the level of service to the community, involvement in extra curricular and an essay written on "How Has Community Service Enriched My Life?", with an emphasis on the level of service to the community.
All applications need to be on file in the counselor's office by 4 p.m. on March 3rd. Interviews of the top three applicants for each scholarship will be conducted in early April. The Scholarships will be awarded in late April at the Pinckneyville High School Awards Night ceremony.
